I took a break from some of the required projects I need to build and built this box, sizing it on the Golden ratio. The depth is the module, the height is .62 of the depth, and the length roughly 1.6 times the module.
It's a basic rabbeted and pinned carcass, with a fielded panel for the bottom.
The wood was grabbed from whatever was laying around the shop, quite a few different species. The box carcass is American Sycamore, the bottom panel is French (European) Walnut, drawer rails are South American Mahogany, the handles and lid pull were fashioned from a twisted Oak branch, the lid support is American Walnut and leather, and the leaf is fashioned from Spalted Red Maple.
Interior finish is Tried and True Varnish Oil, The exterior finish is oil, with rubbed amber shellac and wax.
