I started this table a few years back and shelved it for more immediate projects. Just got back to it last month.
The frame is made from Black Walnut and tiger-striped Sugar Maple. The front frame pieces and the drawer, shown being fitted below, was cut from the same board for grain continuity.
Parts were finished with 4 coats of shellac before assembly to make final finishing easier |
I used Sycamore for the secondary wood in the drawer |
Pine for the drawer bottom acquired from an recycled furniture piece |

I used wood screws abutting leather pieces in the back of the drawer to make slight adjustments. |

Using Rotten stone and mineral oil to smooth the last coat of Shellac. I like the semigloss look with the warmth showing through, and being able to feel the grain, unlike urethane. |
